We have had some folks contact us recently about the status of Astronaut Kitty Boom Boom so I wanted to write a quick update to where we are at right now and what is going on with AKBB.
Shortly after PAX East we entered into a publishing deal with GUN Media to develop Speakeasy. This was a great opportunity for us and we were excited to take the leap, so it meant we had to sideline AKBB for awhile while we worked to bring Speakeasy to reality.
Over the past six months our time has been consumed with making Speakeasy the best possible game it can be. As we near completion of the game, we are very proud of what we have achieved and I think Speakeasy is a great game, the kind of game I could pick up and play now and for years to come with my friends. As we have been working on Speakeasy, we have kept AKBB development on the backburner, but that doesn’t mean Mylo has not been on our minds. We have been spending time thinking about how we need to change the game to get the most fun and absurdity out of it, what platform we want to release AKBB on, and tailor the game to the platform we decide to release it on.
We flirted with the idea of mobile, but we don’t think that is where are strength lies right now. The good news is that through the process of thinking about mobile we have come up with a cool concept about how to add excitement and replay-ability to the game by adding various modes that shuffle randomly, so every game throws a bit something different at you than the last. We are pretty excited about how this can take the game to the place we have always felt it needed to go.
So here we are at the end of September. Speakeasy is nearing release, and we are dedicated to making it the best it can be. Speakeasy development doesn’t stop at release though, and much of our time will be dedicated to Speakeasy. However, my time is becoming a little less hectic, and as John and Shea plug away at Speakeasy I will be spending some of my time starting the design for the new modes and plans for AKBB.
I wish I could say something more concrete, but our new plans involve some emails and contacts to try and see if we can get AKBB on the platform we think it is best on. Let’s just say we want a lot of exciting ways to play AKBB and there is an underserved console out there that has a great fanbase that we feel will really appreciate the game 🙂
Thanks for reading,
Richie
