Greetings! John and I were on a couple of podcasts last week and I want to take the time and share with you our experiences.
Our first podcast we did last week was with The Companion Cube.
Our on air conversation lasted about an hour. We talked about Speakeasy, Astronaut Kitty, RunjumpDev, and how we got into game development. The experience was a great break from development, giving us a chance to discuss what we have done and what we are currently working on. Formatting our past and present in a way digestible for a podcast also helps me get a better perspective on what we are doing and where we are trying to go. Discussing our history is also interesting, as I get to travel back and temporarily experience the exciting times we have had, living it out again in shorthand for a few minutes.
After the podcast was over we ended up chatting for another 30 minutes or so. Mostly we just chatted about what we do and what they do, things in gaming news, etc. The Companion Cube ladies are super cool and I hope their podcast goes great. You should definitely check them out!
The other podcast we did was with the Solid State Gamer, a podcast from guys here in Lexington. They were local and came to our studio to record, which was fantastic since they could play some Speakeasy and check out the radio booth.
Link to podcast (looks like the episode link is the wrong one, we contacted them to see)
As with the Companion Cube, John and I talked about Speakeasy and how we formed Super Soul. It is always fun though, as each group has a different makeup and tone, which leads conversations in different directions.
Things got a little off subject with the podcast when the conversational turned towards hat physics, but then again, hat physics is a serious line of inquiry that the academic community needs to stop dancing around and address.
As with the Companion Cube, we really enjoyed our experience and encourage everyone to check out the Solid State Gamer podcast and site.
On a personal note, these podcasts are of great benefit for us for more than the obvious reason of spreading awareness for our studio and our games. John and I are somewhat shy and reserved people, so these opportunities give us both a chance to grow more comfortable talking to others. Plus, you know, we get to hang out and talk about our hobby turned profession 🙂
AJ calling. I am out.
